Abstract

Countries in sub-Saharan Africa continue to experience some of the highest maternal mortality rates in the World.1,2 Unsafe abortion is reported to be among the leading causes of maternal deaths in some countries in this region.3,4 A significant barrier to advancing legal and policy reforms that ensure women's and girls' access to safe comprehensive abortion care in the region is the lack of relevant and timely evidence
